Lucy's Big Girl Room + Gallery Wall!

Hey y'all! I've been working hard on getting Lucy's room exactly as I want it and I'm finally ready to share it with you all! (Did you notice how I still didn't say I was finished? Forever changing my decor!)

I knew from the start that I wanted to have a tropical, Lilly Pulitzer-esque theme and when Target came out with these flamingo sheets in their Pillowfort line I was sold. I also have a special love for this rocking chair because it was the one that I used as a child and my mom used when she was a little girl, too! The monogrammed pillow was a gift from my grandma when Lucy was born.

I ended up painting Lucy's dresser a pretty coral shade and left the handles gold. It's a cute little mid century modern piece that we've had forever and I'm so glad I was able to give it a new look.

The gallery wall is a combination of dollar store frames that have been spray painted and a few items from Hobby Lobby. I made all of the art prints and added a Lilly print and some family photos.

The curtains are also from Target and I love the sheer look and mint hue paired with the coral accents. Her room was still feeling a little empty so when Lorena Canals asked me to try out one of their machine-washable rugs I thought that would be the perfect addition!

I was so right! The ombre is so beachy to me, and the mint color is a perfect match to her curtains. I LOVE the way this rug just completely pulls the room together and completes the look. And those tassels, are you kidding me? I didn't think it could be more perfect, but it can! Lorena Canals rugs are completely machine washable, meaning I can roll it up and toss the whole thing in my washer. No spot cleaning and no worrying about kids messes ruining my rugs!

I also appreciate that Lorena Canals uses natural dyes and contain no VOCs like other carpets and rugs; super important when little ones are close to the ground and putting everything in their mouth! Even better, proceeds of these rugs support the Sakula project and provide schooling for children in India where they're made. I love supporting companies who give back!

Are any of you Disney lovers? If you're a true Disney fan you may have noticed a little something in that gallery wall ;) Let me know if you find it and know what it is!

A Prayer on Election Day

via
Today is a big day for America. It's a big day for me; my first election in which I am able to vote. It's almost a mockery, like when I turned 21 and the bartender didn't even card me. But I won't get into the political arguments that have taken over all of my social media feeds for the last several months. Today I just want to pray with you all. I want to pray for this country and its leaders elect. I want to pray for its people and the decision that each of us will bear on our conscious today.

So today I pray:

Lord, we are grateful for the freedoms we are given and our ability to vote today. Please be with us as we cast our ballots, and let Your Holy Spirit guide those in charge of the ultimate decision. I ask not for You to sway the vote in my favor, but that You would give us all the strength to persevere through the outcome. Lord I pray that You will be with our politicians and leaders as they prepare to take office and that You will make known to them the love of Your son, Jesus Christ. We are all made in Your image, even our most corrupt and we all need Your love and grace. Jesus, let us feel Your steady hand and constant love today, and everyday. Amen.

I fear for the the future that I will have to raise my children in. What will our country look like in the coming years? I won't be able to protect them forever, I know, but it terrifies me to think that what little protecting I've done for now may no longer be possible. That I may no longer be able to provide for them in the same way as before. I'm not good at change, and it's taken a lot of prayer and grace to get comfortable with that. As you head to the ballot box today, don't fear the coming changes. God has known the outcome of this election since He created the stars. Vote your conscience, vote life, and vote knowing that whatever the end results of today may be, God is our King above all leaders.

DIY Leash Hook + Dog Treat Jar

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Mars, Incorporated. All opinions are mine alone. #IAMSVisibleDifference #IAMSDog #CollectiveBias

Being a stay-at-home mom is one of my biggest blessings, but it is so easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to being active and getting outside. My kids love to go out and play and our dog, Winston, is extremely active, but sprinting around the sofa just doesn't always cut it. Thanks to IAMS™ Visible Difference and a quick and easy DIY we were able to establish a better routine and get our whole family into a more active and healthy lifestyle.

With two young kids and a crazy dog always underfoot, I needed a way to get out of the house on a regular basis with ease. I came up with a fun DIY Leash Hook + Treat Jar to make our daily walk more enjoyable and less of a hassle. I absolutely love the way this turned out and think it would make a great gift for any pet owner!

What You'll Need

Wooden Plaque - Metal Hooks - Pint Size Mason Jar - 3" Pipe Clamp - Paint - Foam Brush - Picture Hanging Kit

First paint and decorate your wooden plaque as desired. I bought a foam stamp from the craft store, but you could always hand paint or use a stencil or vinyl cut out!

Once the paint has dried fully, attach your hardware on both sides! We used a drill to screw in the hooks and a simple hammer + nail to nail the pipe clamp onto the plaque. Be sure to nail your pipe clamp down before screwing in your mason jar.

Now you're ready to hang it up and fill your jar with some yummy homemade treats!

Winston is always waiting by his hook for us to take him on a walk, but staying active isn't the only thing he needs to keep up that energy. Just like the first step to a happy person is a healthy diet, the first step to a happy and healthy dog is what's in his bowl. With a puppy who tends to suffer from skin sensitivity and allergies, I have to be as picky as he is when it comes to buying his food. We opt for IAMS Grain Free Dog Food because it's the perfect combination of taste and nutrition that my active boy needs, and the fatty acids from fish oils keep his skin healthy and coat looking sleek and shiny.

Before and after a good long stroll, IAMS gives Winston just the right amount of protein and carbs to keep him energetic and visibly happy. Not 100% satisfied? No worries! There's a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back! I especially love that I can just pick up a bag in the "Pet Care" aisle of my local Walmart while I'm shopping for myself and my kids. Nothing like getting groceries for the whole family in one-stop shop!

I love how these easy walks are making my family and my dog feel great! Ready to start seeing the IAMS™ Visible Difference in your pets? Enter the #IAMSVisbleDifferenceSweepstakes below for your chance to WIN IAMS for a year or a $125 Walmart gift card!

Apple Picking Fun at Eckert's + a Giveaway!

*I was compensated by Eckert's in exchange for a review of my experience on their farm. All opinions are my own.*

Hi friends!

Here in the St Louis area we have a big farm + market called Eckert's. There are actually 3 separate locations where you can shop, dine, have fun, and pick-your-own produce! So of course when they invited us out to enjoy their first weekend of apple picking, we said, "heck yes"!

First off, let me tell you...if you're going with multiple young children, bring your spouse or at least a friend! Whew! I didn't realize there would be so much to see and do, and of course Preston had to work. We made it work though, and it was still worth the struggle!

First things first--the apple picking. Lucy mostly enjoyed taking bites out of every apple we picked. We took a fun, quick wagon ride out to the orchard where we were able to pick from many different varieties of apples. We ended up taking mostly Jonathan apples. They were sweet and yummy, and we loved having a snack fresh off of the branch!

After we assessed our harvest, we headed to do a few attractions until it was time for lunch. I don't think y'all understand how much Lucy loved that pony ride. She was screeching, "NEIGH!" the whole time we waited in line, and then threw a huge fit when she had to leave. It was so sad! Strangely, she's a natural in the saddle! Looks like we are going to have to get her a pony for Christmas ;)

After our bittersweet pony ride, we walked around a little and decided on a fun train to ride! Lucy sat with her new friend, Hattie and even though everyone was exhausted and way too hot they seemed to have a good time.

Time for lunch! Lucy had mac n' cheese and applesauce (of course!) and I opted for a small platter of chicken tenders and fries--served in a little cast iron skillet, no less!--since the heat stole most of my appetite. It was definitely delicious and I may have to go back for more of that sweet tea alone!

Once our plates were cleared it was time for dessert! Eckert's has the most delicious, creamy, and decadent custard I've had in a while! Between Ted Drewe's and Eckert's I've got my ice cream lovin' heart content!

All in all, it was a super fun experience and definitely one I can't wait to have again! Maybe pumpkin patch season??

But wait, there's more!

A GIVEAWAY

If you're local, be sure to head over to my Instagram to enter to win a $25 gift card to Eckert's! You can use it to purchase just about anything in their massive (and delicious smelling) marketplace! Everything from homemade pies and cheese garden flags and accessories. It was such a fun little shop to browse through, and who doesn't love a little spending money?

Happy Monday, y'all! Let me know if you're entering the giveaway! Isn't apple picking just one of the best things about fall? :)
